At the Symposium on Data Science and Statistics (SDSS) 2025 conference in Salt Lake City, Utah (April 29 – May 2, 2025), 2024 CUBE Program Alum Chloe Burt presented an abstract titled "How Connections Are Made: Investigating the Role of Trust on the Relationship Between Socialization and Mental Health and Behavioral Outcomes."

Using data collected online via Amazon Mechanical Turk (MTurk) and in lab, the study aimed to address the "loneliness epidemic" and concluded that the outcomes of depression and alcoholism are moderated and mediated by trust. This work was conducted in partnership with faculty members at Virginia Tech Carilion's Fralin Biomedical Research Institute (FBRI), Drs. Brooks Casas and Pearl Chiu, who served as mentors in the CUBE Program
