Designing Rigorous & Reproducible Research Workflows Workshop

Researchers at all career stages are invited to join us for a two-day, in-person workshop focused on practical strategies for making research more rigorous, reproducible, collaborative, and sustainable.

Designed for PIs, postdocs, lab managers, research staff, and graduate students, the workshop will cover:

  • Rigorous Design — Strengthen study planning, design, analysis, and reporting.
  • Data Management — Organize, document, integrate, and manage research data effectively.
  • Reproducible Workflows — Build workflows using shared organization, version control, consistent software environments, and automation.
  • Responsible Use of AI — Explore practical uses of AI while considering privacy, accuracy, security, and research integrity.
  • Virginia Tech Resources — Learn where to find expertise and support for study design, grants, data, computing, and team-based research.

This workshop will equip faculty with practical strategies to strengthen research quality, transparency, and efficiency. By implementing reproducible methods for data management, documentation, analysis, and collaboration, participants will enhance the competitiveness of proposals and reports submitted to U.S. government agencies and industry research sponsors.

The workshop will help researchers build credibility, reduce project risk, meet evolving funding requirements, and demonstrate the research excellence that funders increasingly expect from successful award recipients.

Light breakfast and lunch will be provided, and free parking is available. Participants can also earn a badge for attendance, and workshop credits can be applied toward computer refresh credits through TLOS.
